What is ICYPAA
ICYPAA is the International Conference of Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous. It's a conference held annually that celebrates young people in sobriety. There are lots of great speakers, marathon meetings that run all day and night, tons of dances and other fun activities, and it's a great way to see how much fun you can have being young in AA. It's also a way for people who have grown up in AA to show others that they have stayed sober and achieved long-term sobriety by working the steps, doing service and staying close to the fellowship. It's a huge party and it's always a great time! You can find out more at icypaa.org and icypaahost.org
Bidding for ICYPAA
Much like the Olympics or other large-scale events, a city has to bid to have ICYPAA come to their area. It's generally a year-long process that starts after the new city has been announced at the Saturday night meeting of the current ICYPAA. There are specific requirements that must be met (see Bidding Requirements) like obtaining two agreements from facilities that show that the city has enough space too hold a conference of that size! The bid committee must also assemble a bid book outlining that year's activities --- from financial information to a reason for bidding to a pre-registration flyer -- the committee will assemble the work from that year according to the bidding requirements along with extra information about the events, outreach and and spirit of the committee for that year.
If you think you'd like to get a group of young people together to bid for ICYPAA to come to your city, visit icypaa.org for information.
